I uploaded about 70 New photos... Since I have been slacking. Well at least slacking in updating my website. I've been taking photos as you can see. Also, Theres alot of new Night Shots and Light/Fireworks stuff which i think you'll like.
I had a bunch of these printed off for a photo show at Badger Brothers Coffee... They were up for a little over a month, and they are going down to their coffee shop "Jitters" in Dubuque from November - January... So thats kind of cool. I was hoping people would be interested in buying some prints... They are pretty large and look very nice. 13x19 with custom matting and framing. Maybe I'll take some photos... of... the photos? So you can see what they look like framed.

Today my Dickhead friend Jon asked me why i thought Vista sucked... Here is my response:
Why do i think it sucks? Because it takes like an Octal-Core processor with 8 Gigs of ram, and 2 8800GTX OC's in SLI Mode with a raid 5 array of 8x 150GB raptors to actually run well...
But seriously... I ran vista for a month, and my computer was so much slower... i have a dual core with 2gb of ram and a 7800gt oc, and the raptor raid... On XP i can fly between programs, having like 15 open at a time all the time, with virtually no slowdown... vista was just...not good. i would switch between apps and there would be a slight lag.
The GUI, Aero, Is supposed to be this amazing new gui... but its no Quartz (the mac os rendering engine)... What it felt like to me was that it was drawing all the window with an old 2d engine from windows 2k, and then applying a pretty candylook with directx... and because it was using direct x, gaming in a window and video playback would sometimes lag.
the Windows-flip function is supposed to be sorta like Expose' ... wellll, its like... a glorified alt-tab..and not even that...its just a super slow pointless version of alt tab, because it has to like flip your windows into this card file thing and go between them... whats the point? i cant see them all at once like i can with expose... now i know microsoft couldnt have ripped off expose... they had already exceeded their quota of mac OSX features that were ripped off in vista... and poorly at that.
Did you know you can click the start button and just start typing into the start menu to find whatever you are looking for? amazing... just light Spotlight in mac OSX.... only not as good
Did you know you can save your searches as a virtual folder?... hmm reminds me of smart folders in mac OSX.
You know in the new explorer window you can put your favorite "links" to folders in the left pane of the explorer window. just like in mac OSX (in fact the only feature i miss from vista... but OSX had it first)
Not to mention...installing the 64bit version of vista is just asking for trouble... i hope you dont plan on using any printers or you know.. any hardware thats more than a year old, or not even, because the drivers just arent out there. Printer and scanner problems abound. not to mention trying to force 64bit XP drivers onto vista may or may not work...its hit or miss... unless you have an HP printer... dont bother trying to install it. but dont worry the printer companies say they are working on a vista version...
Oh yeah... UAC (User Account Control)... Whats the best solution to spyware and viruses? Lets prompt the user everytime they want to do something... that should make it easier "Do you really want to change date and time?" yes. "Are you sure you want to run this program?" yes. "this program can not run. you need admin privileges" *right click, run as administrator* "are you sure you want to run this program with admin privileges?" Yes... "This Program has known compatability issues, continue?" Yes... Seriously though, i told Ace (who worked on vista) the first thing i did is turn UAC off.. and hes like why would you do that? and hes like "I guess i just click past it allt he time...so much for security" ... Even the vista programmers click right through UAC, whats a normal user going to do? same thing they always do...click Yes and Allow to everything. all UAC is, is one extra step to slow down productivity, and not address the security issues at all. Sure Mac OSX makes you put in a user name and password when you install aprogram... thats great. it works well... but it doesnt ask you everytime you want to do soemthing.
How about that new game? Well... i only have a GeForce 7800 Gt.... and its not supported by DirectX 10, so its using a directX emulatoion or something.. not to mention nvidia's drivers for non DirectX 10 cards (the 8000 series) Just dont work well at all, because they were rushed and microsoft changed things on them. and who knows what... But hey have fun watching the faux-3d GUI crash, and getting 9 directX errors while trying to play Counterstrike Source...
I could go on.... (but i should probably get back to work)
If you upgrade to anything...it should be Mac OSX. and on an intel mac, you can dual boot into windows if you want to play some windows only games. (if only i had the money to get the mac i wanted)
